Ingredients

1 tablespoon coconut oil

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons beeswax

Instructions

Using the double-boiler method, fill a pot with just enough water to heat and create steam. Find a bowl that fits into the rim of the pot without touching the water and set it inside. Add the coconut oil and beeswax into the bowl and turn the heat up. Because beeswax has a high melting point, it will take a few minutes for both ingredients to melt together. When this happens, add the olive oil and stir everything together. Then, transfer the mixture into a mold and let it set.

Silicon molds are a great choice for this because they're flexible and will leave a smooth surface all around. You can find these in a variety of shapes and sizes to make unique, beautiful bars.

If you don't have one of these molds, line a regular baking tray with wax paper or foil and pour the mixture in. When it cools, cut the lotion bars into parts or leave them as is. I did this using a cupcake tray, filling each only about 1/5 of the way, and when they were ready, I peeled off the foil. Keep in mind that doing it this way will leave a bit of a crinkled look from the lining. But, this batch came out like cute, little coins! They're just as great and effective.

To finish, accent them with twine and dried herbs.

Best Use & Storage

Apply directly onto skin and buff out with hand. Great for skin and lips.

Keep this sealed when not in use. Try keeping it wrapped or stored in a small container.

Benefits

Coconut oil is not only a great moisturizer, it's also antibacterial and anti-fungal. This will keep the lotion bar and skin sanitary. It can help heal acne and irritation, and the overall texture of skin.

Olive oil has plenty of antioxidants that will help nourish and replenish the skin. It's an excellent moisturizer with a lovely smell.

Beeswax locks in moisture and adds a protective barrier to the skin.
