Five Lovely Bath Essentials

Next time you take a trip to the ol' tub, give these little ideas a try to create the most serene at-home spa.

 

Tea

There's nothing better than a hot cup of your favorite tea after a long day. A gentle tea, like chamomile, will help the mind and body wind down. I find the warm sensation to be additionally calming.

Also, teas are packed with natural healing properties that our bodies need, love, and can always use more of. So, drink up!

Essential Oil

Include aromatherapy into your bath time by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil into the water. For relaxation, lavender is always a good choice. If you're feeling a bit congested from a busy week, try using eucalyptus oil to open and refresh your breathing passage.

I recommend doing a bit of your own research to determine which oil is the best option for you. Everyone has different skin sensitivities, so be sure to test the oil on a small area of your body first. If needed, use a carrier oil to further dilute the essential oil of your choice before adding it to the bath water. Remember: a very little bit goes a very long way!

Book

While it might be more entertaining to have a phone or tablet keep you company, a book will more likely keep you in tune with relaxation. Using the internet might deter the mind from calming down since there is access to a lot of information at a quick pace. It can also give you the ability to get more work done, plan the week, make a grocery list, etc. ⎯  all things to try to avoid when it's time to rest.

Plants

I find nature to be the most soothing. Create a zen spa for yourself by setting a nice plant or two nearby during your bath. Plants will keep the air clean and vibrant, and their energy will help create a peaceful atmosphere.

Crystals

Last, but not least, crystals and gemstones! Every crystal radiates a different vibration, and having one or a few in the bathroom will add an extra touch of gentility.

Amethyst crystals are very relaxing and will help reduce anxiety, rose quartz will encourage self-love and healing, and black tourmaline will rid us of any negative energy we might have picked up throughout the day ⎯ just to give you a few ideas! I love having crystals and stones around always; they're the best!
